After the huge success of the Expo 2020 Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on Monday that the site will transform into a new city that represents the most beautiful ambitions of Dubai.
After the future plans for the site eagerly anticipated, the huge question now is: when will the new Expo City be opened for all?
Recently, an official statement has revealed that Dubai’s newest ‘city’ will be opened on October 1, 2022 – which is one year from when Expo 2020 first opened to visitors globally.
Thinking forward about the event’s magic will be a collection of diverse attractions. Moreover, the eco-friendly city will feature commercial offices, leisure facilities, food and entertainment spots, sports facilities and even a mall. The city will also be accessible by the Dubai Metro and will also have the world-class Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC). This centre host an array of conferences and events.
Furthermore, three of Dubai Expo 2020’s most visited places, the Al Wasl Plaza, the Garden in the Sky observation tower and the water feature, will remain. However, Alif, the Mobility Pavilion and Terra, the Sustainability Pavilion, will be operational on as interactive educational facilities. By the end of this year, the Opportunity Pavilion is going to become the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum – a new addition which highlights the history and impact of Global Expos and celebrates the huge success of the six-month event.
