Abu Dhabi: UAE residents can already look ahead to the expected dates of Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha in 2027, with astronomical calculations offering an early indication of when the major Islamic occasions could fall.
According to the UAE Astronomy Centre, Ramadan is expected to begin in February 2027, followed by Eid Al Fitr in March and Eid Al Adha in May. However, the dates remain tentative because the beginning of Islamic months is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon.
When will Ramadan begin in 2027?
Ramadan is expected to begin in the UAE on Monday, February 8, 2027.
The crescent marking the beginning of Ramadan is expected to be observed around February 6 or 7. Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan is likely to begin on February 8.
The holy month follows the Islamic lunar calendar, meaning Ramadan moves approximately 10 to 12 days earlier each year in the Gregorian calendar.
When is Eid Al Fitr in 2027?
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal.
In 2027, Eid Al Fitr is expected to fall on Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10.
The final date will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent. If the crescent is sighted on the evening of March 8, Eid would begin on March 9. If it is not sighted, Ramadan would complete 30 days and Eid would begin on March 10.
When is Eid Al Adha in 2027?
Eid Al Adha is expected to fall in mid-May 2027.
The crescent marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah is expected to be observed around May 6 or 7. Based on these calculations, Eid Al Adha could fall on Sunday, May 16, or Monday, May 17, 2027.
The Day of Arafah, observed on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, is also expected to fall around May 15 or 16.
Expected UAE dates for 2027
- Ramadan begins: February 8, 2027
- Eid Al Fitr: March 9 or 10, 2027
- Day of Arafah: May 15 or 16, 2027
- Eid Al Adha: May 16 or 17, 2027
Dates are subject to moon sighting
The projected dates provide an early guide for residents planning holidays, travel and family gatherings. They should not be considered final until the relevant crescent moons are officially sighted and the dates are confirmed by the UAE authorities.
For now, the expected dates give UAE residents a useful early indication of when the country could observe Ramadan and the two major Eid celebrations in 2027.
