Dubai is preparing for the return of several familiar destinations in 2027, as major refurbishment and redevelopment projects reshape cultural attractions, luxury hotels and community venues.
From a revamped Museum of the Future to the return of a much loved shopping mall, these projects promise fresh experiences while renewing places that have become part of the city’s identity.
Here are five destinations expected to reopen in 2027.
Museum of the Future to introduce new experiences
The Museum of the Future is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2027 following a temporary closure for a major transformation.
Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, the museum plans to replace its existing exhibitions with a new visitor experience featuring updated displays, immersive environments and interactive installations.
Since opening in February 2022, the attraction has become one of Dubai’s most recognisable cultural destinations. Its striking exterior will remain a landmark as the museum prepares to present a refreshed vision of science, technology and humanity’s future.
The exact reopening date and ticket details have yet to be announced.
Burj Al Arab targets October reopening
Dubai’s sail-shaped Burj Al Arab is expected to welcome guests back in October 2027 after an 18-month restoration programme.
The hotel closed in April 2026 for its first major restoration since opening in 1999. The work is intended to preserve its distinctive character while refreshing its interiors after more than 25 years of operation.
French interior architect Tristan Auer is leading the restoration, which focuses on maintaining the hotel’s design identity while enhancing its spaces.
Standing 321 metres tall on its own artificial island, Burj Al Arab remains one of Dubai’s most recognisable architectural landmarks. Further details about the renewed guest experience are expected closer to reopening.
Armani Hotel Dubai set for March return
Armani Hotel Dubai, located inside the Burj Khalifa, is scheduled to reopen in March 2027 following an extensive refurbishment.
The renovation covers rooms and suites, restaurants, the spa, fitness facilities, swimming pool and event spaces. Its renovated ballroom and event areas are expected to be unveiled in January, ahead of the full reopening.
Opened in 2010, the hotel was designed around the minimalist aesthetic of Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani. The refurbishment aims to update the property while retaining its understated style and design identity.
Lamcy Plaza to return as The Plaza
One of Dubai’s best-known former community malls is preparing for a new chapter nearly a decade after closing.
Lamcy Plaza in Oud Metha is expected to reopen as The Plaza in the first half of 2027, with the target period running from January to June.
Opened in 1997, the mall was a popular destination for families, offering shops, cinemas, a hypermarket and a food court. It remained closed after a fire in March 2017.
The property is now under the asset management of Azure Properties, and work on its exterior has been visible in recent months.
Details about the new tenants, layout and facilities have not yet been announced. It is also unclear whether familiar features, including the mall’s famous rope climbing clown, will return.
The reopening could restore a familiar community destination while introducing a new retail experience for residents.
Barasti Beach Club prepares for a new look
Barasti Beach Club is expected to return in 2027 following redevelopment at Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina. The venue closed in June 2026 for the transformation.
Known for its beachfront setting, live entertainment and sports screenings, Barasti has been part of Dubai’s social scene since 1995.
The redevelopment is expected to introduce redesigned spaces, multiple zones and expanded dining options. An exact reopening date has not yet been announced.
A fresh chapter for familiar destinations
The planned reopenings reflect Dubai’s continuing investment in its cultural attractions, hospitality sector and community spaces.
For visitors, the changes could bring new experiences at established landmarks. For residents, the return of The Plaza may also revive memories of Lamcy Plaza’s place in Dubai’s retail history.
While the destinations are targeting 2027, timelines may change as work progresses. Visitors should check official announcements before planning visits or bookings.
