Bitcoin rebounded above $83,000 as stronger US corporate earnings, falling oil prices and renewed investment in cryptocurrency funds supported demand for digital assets. The recovery followed recent market weakness, although uncertainty over interest rates and the global economic outlook continued to influence investor sentiment.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency rose 2.1% to $83,529, according to The Economic Times. Ethereum also gained 2.7%, while several other major cryptocurrencies advanced as investors showed renewed interest in riskier assets.
The recovery coincided with stronger US equities following encouraging corporate earnings reports. Falling oil prices also eased some concerns about inflation and the potential impact of energy costs on interest rates.
US Market Recovery Supports Bitcoin
Bitcoin’s latest gains came as investors responded to improving conditions across traditional financial markets. Stronger corporate earnings helped lift US stocks, while lower oil prices reduced some of the pressure on risk-sensitive investments.
The relationship between Bitcoin and equities can be significant during periods of economic uncertainty. When investors become more comfortable taking risks, demand for cryptocurrencies may improve. However, this relationship can change quickly as economic data and monetary policy expectations shift.
Despite the rebound, Bitcoin remained down 0.4% over the preceding seven days. Ethereum had also declined 2.3% over the same period, suggesting that the latest gains had not fully reversed recent weakness.
Short-position liquidations contributed to the upward move. Approximately $125 million in short positions were liquidated within an hour, according to market figures cited by The Economic Times. These liquidations occur when traders betting on falling prices are forced to close their positions, potentially adding buying pressure.
However, short covering alone does not establish that a sustained recovery is underway.
Bitcoin ETFs Record Strong Inflows
Investment flows into US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) provided another source of support.
These funds recorded approximately $526.6 million in net inflows on October 19, their strongest daily inflow since September 22, according to figures cited in the report.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs allow investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin through exchange-traded products without directly purchasing and storing the cryptocurrency. Their daily inflows and outflows are closely watched as indicators of investment demand.
The latest inflows suggested that some investors were buying Bitcoin following recent price weakness. However, fund flows can fluctuate considerably, and one strong session does not guarantee continued demand.
Investors will be watching subsequent ETF activity to determine whether institutional interest can support further gains. Demand for Ethereum investment products remained comparatively weaker, according to the report.
Analysts Watch Key Bitcoin Price Levels
Market analysts identified $86,000 as an important resistance level, while $80,000 remained a key support level.
Resistance refers to a price area where selling pressure may limit further gains. Support is a level where buying interest could help prevent additional declines. Neither level guarantees how the market will move.
Bitcoin also tested resistance around its 21-day moving average of approximately $83,230 before consolidating near $82,000, according to market commentary cited by The Economic Times.
A sustained move above resistance could strengthen the recovery, while a decline towards support would indicate continued selling pressure. Traders will also be monitoring investment flows and broader economic developments for signs of a clearer trend.
Cryptocurrency Market Capitalisation Rises
The wider digital asset market advanced alongside Bitcoin. Total cryptocurrency market capitalisation increased 2.1% to approximately $2.88 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap data cited by The Economic Times.
Several major cryptocurrencies, including BNB, XRP, Solana, Hyperliquid, Dogecoin and Cardano, recorded gains. Tron moved lower, showing that the recovery was not uniform across the market.
Investor sentiment nevertheless remained cautious. The Fear and Greed Index stabilised around 51, indicating broadly neutral sentiment rather than a decisive shift towards optimism.
Market participants continue to monitor US monetary policy, inflation and global economic developments. Changes in interest-rate expectations can influence the appeal of cryptocurrencies compared with traditional investments.
Can Bitcoin Sustain Its Recovery?
Bitcoin’s rebound above $83,000 highlights the influence of stronger equity markets, lower oil prices and renewed demand for cryptocurrency investment products.
However, the recovery remains vulnerable to changes in economic conditions and investor sentiment. Continued ETF inflows could support prices, while renewed selling pressure or uncertainty over interest rates could limit further gains.
Traders will be watching whether Bitcoin can move towards $86,000 while maintaining support around $80,000. For now, the latest advance marks a recovery from recent weakness, but further gains will depend on whether buying demand continues in the sessions ahead.
