Anika Stevens’ journey into the world of fashion is one defined by passion, authenticity, and a deep respect for culture. As a stylist and the founder of @fairblvd, she has crafted a brand that not only embraces individuality but also celebrates sustainability and inclusivity.

From working with indigenous communities to reshaping the narrative around self-expression, Stevens has created a space where fashion is more than just clothing—it’s a powerful reflection of one’s identity.
- Anika, your journey into fashion seems incredibly unique. Can you share what initially sparked your interest in styling, and how that passion led to the creation of @fairblvd?
Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by fashion and beauty. Fashion has always been my language of self-expression. I’ve always been inspired by the idea of embracing individuality, expressing yourself authentically, not just to stand out, but to truly be yourself. For me, fashion is about identity and individuality, a way to visually articulate who you are. I noticed there weren’t many places or pieces that reflected my vision of beauty and self-expression. My passion for social impact and working with indigenous communities became the perfect foundation to create something beautiful and meaningful. This combination inspired me to build a space where culture meets bold expression, uniting these two souls to create the magic I want to share with the world.
- Balancing your work as both a stylist and a brand founder must be quite challenging. How do you stay creatively inspired while managing the day-to-day of running a brand?
It’s definitely challenging! The pressure of work doesn’t always leave much room for creativity. That’s why I prioritize carving out “me time,” whether it’s exercising, doing my nails, or traveling. Travel, in particular, is a huge source of inspiration for me. The beauty of new surroundings, the shift in environment, and the opportunity to connect with different cultures and artisans always spark fresh ideas. On the business side, staying focused is essential. I’m building a team I trust so I can channel my energy into the creative aspects while staying grounded in the brand’s vision. I’m intentional about how I spend my time and who I spend it with. My workweek doesn’t end after five days; it’s a constant balancing act of staying inspired while keeping the business on track.
- @fairblvd stands out for its commitment to inclusivity and sustainability. How do these core values show up in your personal life, and how do they influence your choices as a designer and stylist?
My love for people, nature, culture, and beauty has always driven me. There’s so much beauty in this world if you take the time to truly see it. I’ve had the privilege of working with indigenous communities for over a decade, and their way of living, loving, and seeing the world has deeply inspired me. Their unique sense of beauty and wisdom is beyond words, it’s something you feel. Collaborating with them has shown me that, at our core, we share the same love and values for what truly matters in life. Together, we create pieces with intention and quality, meant not for the masses but for those who embrace art and beauty as something timeless and meaningful. These are bold expressions of culture and individuality, crafted to stand the test of time.
- As someone who’s built a brand from the ground up, what was one of the hardest moments you faced, and how did it shape the way you approach both styling and business today?
Balancing business with preserving culture is a constant challenge. Many indigenous communities approach work differently, often living in the moment rather than planning far ahead. This mindset can sometimes create conflicts when managing new designs, orders, or deadlines. The key is finding common ground, honoring their way of life while ensuring the creative process flows smoothly. It’s not about changing their culture but protecting its beauty and authenticity. The real connection comes from speaking their language not just in words, but in cultural values. Understanding their perspective, respecting their traditions, and aligning on a shared vision allows us to create together in a way that is both meaningful and sustainable.
- When you work with clients, how do you tap into their individual styles and personalities to create looks that truly resonate with them? Are there any standout moments in styling that you look back on fondly?
Clients often come to me with a vision or a specific occasion in mind. I take that into account and bring pieces I feel align with their energy and intention. When they try on a piece, there’s often an indescribable connection, it’s as if the piece chooses them. They just know when it’s meant to be theirs, or sometimes, it sparks inspiration for me to create something entirely unique for them based on that moment. Every experience is deeply personal and memorable. Seeing someone connect with the intention and artistry behind a piece is pure magic. I’ll never forget the first time a bride told me how majestic she felt wearing one of my creations. It was in that moment I knew we were on the right path, creating something truly meaningful.
- With @fairblvd’s focus on empowering diverse voices and body types, what has been your proudest accomplishment in pushing the boundaries of conventional fashion?
What I love most is seeing how everyone connects with the pieces. Regardless of gender or where they come from, people find a unique connection that feels deeply personal. To me, that’s the greatest accomplishment. Each piece is designed with intention, it connects with the soul. It is not for a specific body type, but to evoke a sense of magic and empowerment. Our creations are meant for anyone, men, women, or beyond. It’s incredible to witness how pure beauty transcends the boundaries of shape and form, creating a universal connection that speaks to the soul.
- How do you envision the future of fashion, especially in terms of sustainability and inclusivity, and what role do you hope to play in shaping it?
I believe the future of fashion lies in purpose and intention. Discovering pieces that resonate on a deeper level and allow you to express your true self. The essence of luxury is its timelessness, inherently aligning with sustainability. As people are increasingly exposed to diverse cultures and perspectives, their style evolves, fostering greater inclusivity. Our mission is to celebrate indigenous culture and artistry, sharing meaningful stories through timeless creations that are both magical and beautiful.
- Looking back on your journey, what’s one lesson you’ve learned that you wish you’d known when you first started out? And what advice would you give to someone trying to break into both styling and entrepreneurship?
Start by doing the inner work, connect with who you truly are and stay grounded in your authenticity. This foundation will help you build a clear vision and values, allowing you to create a brand that feels genuine and unique. Believe in yourself, your mission, and your purpose, and never lose the joy in what you do. Trust your inner voice, and don’t let the opinions of others steer you away from your path. Your authenticity is your greatest strength and what will always set you apart. Surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you, and don’t be afraid to stand out. Embrace who you are and boldly share what you stand for.
