The metaverse is a growing digital environment which is made up of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and blockchain. In short words, it is a virtual world, which is almost like a video game that replicates the real world.
With hopes to launch in the next few months, Emirates Airline’s plan to jump on the trend of investing more in the metaverse.
Hence, the Emirates pavilion at the Expo 2020 site will be restructured into a centre for innovation that the airline brand will use as a hub to bring in people from around the world to work on the airline’s future-focused projects including those relating to the metaverse, NFTs and Web3.
However, it is yet to be announced if the airline will focus on AR, VR, or XR (extended reality – which mixes AR, VR as well as MR, which merges the real and virtual worlds). All of this sounds pretty fascinating!
Alongside the update, it was also shared that the carrier will soon release both collectible and utility-based NFTs.
Now, we look forward to seeing how Emirates will play in the metaverse.
