Scholarships cover bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes at eight higher education institutions across Sharjah
Sharjah has approved 4,434 scholarships for Emirati students and children of Emirati women admitted to higher education institutions across the emirate.
The scholarships were approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who also chairs the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The latest allocation spans three levels of higher education, giving students the opportunity to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies across a range of academic disciplines.
3,463 scholarships for bachelor’s programmes
Bachelor’s degree students account for the largest share of the latest scholarship allocation, with 3,463 scholarships approved for undergraduate programmes.
A further 722 scholarships have been allocated to students pursuing master’s degrees, while 249 scholarships are for doctoral programmes.
The distribution means the support extends from students beginning their university education to those undertaking advanced study and research.
For eligible students, the scholarships can provide an important pathway to higher education while easing the financial pressure associated with university and postgraduate study.
Eight institutions to receive scholarship students
The scholarships will be distributed among eight higher education institutions in Sharjah.
They include the University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, University of Khorfakkan, University of Kalba, University of Al Dhaid, University of Fine Arts, Sharjah Police Science Academy and Sharjah Academy for Maritime Transport.
The institutions offer programmes spanning a broad selection of academic and professional fields. Their inclusion means students can pursue different educational routes, from conventional university degrees to specialised programmes linked to particular professions.
The range of participating institutions also gives the scholarship programme a broad academic scope, covering both general higher education and specialised study.
Opportunities from undergraduate to doctoral study
The scholarship allocation caters to students at different points in their academic careers.
The 3,463 undergraduate scholarships represent the largest portion of the total and will support students pursuing bachelor’s degrees. These programmes provide the academic foundation for students entering a wide range of professional fields.
At the postgraduate level, the 722 master’s scholarships offer further opportunities for students looking to deepen their expertise or specialise in a particular discipline.
The remaining 249 doctoral scholarships are aimed at advanced academic study and research. Doctoral education can play an important role in building specialised expertise and strengthening research capabilities in areas of importance to the UAE.
Supporting the next generation
The scholarship programme provides eligible Emirati students and children of Emirati women with access to higher education opportunities within Sharjah.
For many students, financial support can make a meaningful difference during several years of university or postgraduate study. It can help them concentrate on their academic work while pursuing qualifications that may open doors to future professional opportunities.
The broad range of institutions involved also means that students are not restricted to a single academic pathway. They can pursue studies according to their interests, abilities and long-term career ambitions.
A wide range of academic pathways
The participating institutions cover diverse areas of study. Alongside major universities, the list includes specialised institutions such as the Sharjah Police Science Academy and the Sharjah Academy for Maritime Transport.
This mix allows the scholarship programme to support students pursuing different professional directions and areas of expertise.
The University of Sharjah and American University of Sharjah provide broad academic offerings, while the other participating institutions add specialised options in fields including maritime studies, policing and fine arts.
